I don't know anything about the technologies you guys are familiar with.

That said, I do appreciate the tone you guys take in your discussions.

It's refreshing to see civil exchanges.

Really.

Thanks very much. When I saw CL react so strongly (I have huge respect for Curious Lurker) I thought to put this up.

Reasonable skepticism is always good, in all cases, not just when it comes to Middle East. E.g., I pointed out an example of a respected Western journalist who engaged in gross deception in regard to certain video footage to create a sensation about "Russian atrocities" in Chechnya. But does that example prove that there were no such atrocities? Of course not. There are also some fake/staged photos related to the Nazi crimes. DDR studio DEFA is known to have engaged in such fakery, e.g. with this well-known photo (see here for details). This series is also not of real events, rather the photos are staged. Etc. Does that prove anything one way or another, except that one must be vigilant in all cases?

One of the issues with the comments in that thread were the rather weak arguments, purporting to show that the baby was not wounded due to the fact of how it was held and that a wound was not visible in that particular shot, and that a photo of the wounded person pushed into the ambulance is suspect because the person is not fixed. People are free to doubt captions because they're suspect in general, but the arguments themselves don't provide the case for skepticism. It's like people were intent on showing that the photos are allegedly suspect. They're suspect because any photos and captions are suspect, but there's nothing especially doubtful about them or the captions just because they (purport to) depict suffering of Palestinians.

Um... If you're going to declare someone wounded in a photo, it's usually best to show the person wounded. Please show me a photo declaring a wound anywhere else where no wound is visible.

I could care less whether it's Arab, Dutch, French or Italian, fauxtography is misrepresentation to illicit sympathy from the audience, and it works against Israel BIG time.

Of course, the Dutch, French and Italians do not generally partake in fake photos. The Arabs have made damn near a cottage industry out of it. That's where Pallywood comes from - and the little boy who cried wolf.

How come when Lawhawk types that exact sentiment everyone cheers?

The truth may be ugly, but it remains the truth.

Do you have a specific comment in mind in which Lawhawk typed that exact sentiment? I can't recall any time when he has made a broad statement about what "Arabs" have done. Maybe it's his training as a lawyer, but he is always specific and precise, as far as I can recall. You've wielded a broad brush in your comment.

I am trying to follow the links you provide. Maybe it is because I don't speak german, but it looks like your are pointing to holocaust denial.
